The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Paranas has completed the distribution of weighing scales to all barangays of the municipality following the turnover of 17 additional Detecto manual weighing scales with height boards on August 7 at the EBOSS Building.
Mayor Elvira Babalcon and Vice Mayor Atty. Eunice Babalcon led the turnover of the second batch of weighing scales to the remaining barangays. Each Detecto weighing scale was procured through LGU funds and will be used primarily for nutrition assessment across all age groups.
The first batch of weighing scales was funded through the incentive received by the municipality after being recognized as a CROWN Awardee in 2023, with the award formally conferred in 2024.
The recognition and subsequent use of the incentive reflect the continued efforts of the Municipal Nutrition Office, led by Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) Bernice Jessica Enguerra, whose team has been instrumental in advancing nutrition programs and initiatives in the municipality.
With weighing scales now available in all barangays, Paranas strengthens its capacity to regularly monitor the nutritional status of residents, from children to adults and senior citizens, and support timely nutrition interventions at the community level.
